Court Sentences Portable To Three Months In Prison Over Assault, Theft Of Musical Equipment

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ifo, Ogun State, has sentenced controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Olalomi Okikiola, known as Portable, to 3 months in prison.

The conviction, delivered by Chief Magistrate Babajide Ilo on Tuesday, following a 3-count charge involving assault & theft of musical equipment, as stated in charge sheet No. MIF/192C/2023.

Portable was initially arraigned in April 2023 and granted bail in the sum of N300,000 with 2 family sureties.

However, he was remanded last week after failing to attend several prior court hearings.

According to the prosecution, the offences occurred on November 18, 2022, in Okeosa, Ilogbo, within the Ifo Magisterial District, where Portable & others allegedly assaulted one Emmanuel Oluwafemi & stole studio equipment.

Magistrate Ilo found the singer guilty on two of the three charges. For Count 1 (conspiracy to assault), he was sentenced to one month in prison or a N10,000 fine. For Count 2 (unlawful assault), he received 2 months in prison or a N20,000 fine.
