Congo Former President Pascal Lissouba Dies In France


A former Congolese president Pascal Lissouba is dead. He was 88. He died in France on Monday, his party told AFP.

The late Lissouba won his country’s first multi-party presidential elections in 1992.

“President Lissouba passed away after an illness,” Pan-African Union for Social Democracy (UPADS) spokesman and MP Honore Sayi said.

Lissouba died in Perpignan, southwestern France, he said.
