Form Six Student commits Suicide in High School


An 18-year-old Form Six learner, Prince Tawonezvi reportedly committed suicide at ZRP High School around 5pm on Monday, 13 March.

ZRP Senior Staff Officer (Press and Public Relations), Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

He said:

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the tragic and unfortunate death of an upper sixth student, Prince Tawonezvi (18) at ZRP High School on 13th March 2023 at 1700 hours.

“The student allegedly committed suicide in circumstances that are now subject to investigations.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police expresses condolence to the Tawonezvi family and students at the school.”

Meanwhile, the suicide at ZRP High is the fourth reported incident of school-going teenage suicides in the country in March.
