A non-governmental organisation, Great People Foundation (GPF) has said its plans for the year was to train over 1000 students on professional programs in other to help them in skill acquisition and financial education.

It added that it also plans to provide food and clothing materials for 5000 indigent undergraduates from different universities, adding that through the commitment of her partners it has been able to save 7 students from dropping out of school and still has a goal of helping 500 more before the year ends.

Founder and President of the organization, Joshua Aluko, who spoke exclusively with NEWSAFRICANOW said despite the long months of lockdown and the economic hardship in 2020, GPF has advanced its mission of saving indigent students from dropping out of school.

“We were able to help 36 indigent students and also provided food materials for over 100 undergraduates who were stranded during the pandemic,” he said.

Aluko said: “In 2021, GPF through her ever committed partners has been able to save 7 students from dropping out of school so far and still has a goal of helping 500 more before the year ends.

“Also, GPF is set to provide food and clothing materials for 5000 indigent undergraduates this year and also conduct professional training programs for 1000 students, to help them in skill acquisition and financial education.”

The president noted that the organization is currently running a screening session for scholarship applicants from several tertiary institutions across the country and will attend to the next set of recipients by April.

Aluko, however, assured students in various universities in the northern and eastern regions that GPF would soon open new branches in those areas this year.

“More branches of GPF are set to open in new universities in the northern and eastern regions of the country during the course of the year,” he stated.
