Presidential Transition Council raises alarm over fake Twitter account

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, has warned Nigerians about a fake Twitter account claiming to belong to the Presidential Transition Council (PTC).

The account, @TransitionNgr, was created in April 2020, before the council was established or inaugurated, and has been spreading inaccurate and misleading information.

“The PTC has nothing to do with the fake Twitter handle. President Muhammadu Buhari gave approval for the establishment of the PTC only in February 2023,” said Mustapha.

He called the creation of the fake Twitter account an “irresponsible and calculated attempt” to disseminate inaccurate information to the public.

Mustapha urged the public to disregard the fake Twitter account and to use the official handle of the PTC for accurate information on its activities. He assured Nigerians that the PTC was working diligently to ensure a successful transition of power to the new administration on May 29.

“The activities of the PTC were on course as all committee members were working assiduously for the success of the inauguration of a new administration on May 29,” he said.
