Ex-Nigerian International Benedict Akwuegbu has revealed the reason Super Eagles might eventually emerge as the champions of Africa.
While speaking on Live Sports on Jamz FM 100.1 on Saturday, the former Super Eagles attacker explained that team spirit is high.
” Nigeria is primed to win the ongoing competition in Ivory Coast because the team spirit is high and they are committed.
They are improving with every game and the defence remained the strongest point of the team.
Assistant Captain William Troost Ekong is doing a yeoman job in coordinating the backline and communication is perfect”, he said.
He further stated that the Super Eagles are now the top favourites with the elimination of Senegal and Morocco.
” It’s looking extremely possible that Nigeria might lift the trophy for the 4th time.
It’s so surprising that Senegal and Morocco bowed out but that is football, you never can tell”, he added.
Akwuegbu was part of the Super Eagles team at the 2000 African Cup of Nations which was co-hosted by Nigeria and Ghana.
