Athletics: AIU Hammer Falls On Kenya Long Distance Runner

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has slapped a ban on Kenyan distance runner Agnes Jeruto Barsosio for doping offences.

The 2022 Nairobi City Marathon winner was hammered with a five-year ban for inconsistencies in her Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) following blood tests conducted on her in nine years.

According to the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), 12 blood samples were taken from the athlete between July 10, 2013 and November 30, 2022.

The sanction was supposed to have been six years, four for the ABP rule violation and a further two for the presence of a banned substance, but upon admission, she received a one-year pardon.
