Barcelona’s Ilaix Moriba has received ‘firm offer’ from Manchester United

A recent report from Spain has credited Manchester United with an interest in Barcelona starlet, Ilaix Moriba.

Who is Ilaix Moriba?

Moriba is just one of countless top talents to have made their way through Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy over the years.

The midfielder is still primarily plying his trade with Barca B, but the current campaign has seen Ronald Koeman hand the youngster some first-team action.

The 18-year-old made his senior debut towards the end of January, featuring for 74 minutes in the Copa del Rey vs UE Cornellà.

And Moriba has since been handed three more appearances for the Blaugrana, vs Alaves and Sevilla (twice). Impressively, across these outings, the Spaniard managed to provide two assists.

Following his first-team debut, Moriba had the following to say:

“My first team debut was a dream come true. They told me I was playing the day before and I couldn’t sleep. It’s such a dream after all these years of hard work. All that work was worth it just for those 80 minutes.”

“At La Masia you have choice but to mature. They help and guide you a lot. But a lot of things depend on you – rigour, constancy, work and everything is taught from a young age. Since I was little I have been coming to Camp Nou to watch the team and to now have played in the stadium with these players is just incredible.”

Man United make offer for Moriba

And now, despite his limited experience, Moriba appears to be attracting interest from some top clubs.

As per the aforementioned report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the teen has received two firm offers from Manchester United and RB Leipzig.

However, it is suggested that Moriba, who has less than 18 months left on his current contract, intends to continue at the Camp Nou.

No potential fee is mentioned in the report, but it has previously been claimed that Moriba’s Barcelona deal contains a massive €100m release clause.
