The official video for Hayya Hayya (Better Together) World Cup Theme track voiced and performed by Nigeria’s David Adeleke alias Davido alongside America’s Trinidad Cardona, and Japan’s Aisha hits over 100 million views, plus 1.7 million likes on FIFA’s YouTube channel.

The Pop track released in 2022 as part of the FIFA World Cup program for Qatar, has garnered raves and reviews over the last five months, even after the global tournament has long ended.

The visuals in the official video had backgrounds showing a desert, the seas, and the earth’s horizon depicting the world at a glance, with slides of past World Cup clips in the interlude, as Davido, Cardona, and Aisha took turns to perform their verses.

It would be 13 years since a Nigerian last featured in a World Cup Theme song since Tuface Innocent Idibia did in Wavin Flag back in 2010, which was the first time FIFA’s global tournament would be hosted in Africa.

Nigerian Artists have found joy on the global stage in recent times, considering Kiss Daniel’s “Buga” playing in loud speakers at the World Championship in 2022 where Tobi Amusan reigned supreme in athletics, and the “Cough (Odo)” by the same artist going viral after Nigeria’s Flamingoes mimed the tune at the 2022 U17 World Cup.

Nigerian music continues to intertwine with global sports, which could serve as a positive that could be leveraged on for the advantage of the Nigerian Sports Federation.
