Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has this evening provided a less than encouraging injury update on star striker Danny Ings.
Adams on target
Hasenhuttl and co. were of course back in action earlier today, in a Premier League meeting with basement dwellers Sheffield United.
The Saints headed into proceedings nothing short of desperate for a positive result, having seen their campaign fall off a cliff amid a run of 9 successive league outings without a victory.
And, when all was said and done at Bramall Lane, get back on track is precisely what Southampton managed.
The visitors took the lead just past the half-hour mark, when James Ward-Prowse slotted home from the penalty spot in confident fashion.
And Che Adams went on to make sure of all 3 points early in the 2nd-half, rattling home a stunning strike from outside the area to guide Southampton a full 10 points clear of the relegation zone:
He must have a foot like a traction engine!
It’s an absolutely strike from Che Adams to double Southampton’s lead!

‘Doesn’t look good…’
On an otherwise positive day for the Saints, however, a concerning development was also forthcoming on the personnel front.
This came inside the opening quarter of an hour at Bramall Lane, when Danny Ings went to ground off the ball.
After being tended to by Southampton’s medical team, it quickly became clear that the hitman was in no condition to continue, forcing Ralph Hasenhuttl into an early change.
In turn, the Austrian was inevitably drawn on Ings’ wellbeing during his post-match press conference.
And the news proved far from encouraging, with Hasenhuttl having pointed towards a likely layoff of ‘a few weeks’:
Ralph Hasenhüttl on Danny Ings: “It doesn’t look so good. When you look at the history of our muscle injuries, you can be sure that he is out for a few weeks.”#FPL #FantasyPL #FFScout #DGW27 #saintsfc pic.twitter.com/nKMFLVcCjF
