In-form Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has stated that his form at the German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen is a surprise to him.
The Nigerian international joined the German club this summer from the Belgian Jupiler League side Union Saint Gillaloise.
His form in the league and UEFA Europa League has been tremendous, scoring 7 goals to propel Leverkusen to the top of the table.
Boniface acknowledged that all the players signed by the team has been up to the expectations.
“It’s not down to me. Leverkusen signed six or seven players, and mine is to help the team and they’re doing the same. This is not just about me, it’s also for the team.
“Coming to a top club like Leverkusen, playing for the first team, and helping the team has been good. For me it’s a surprise, but it’s football, anything can happen”, he said to Omasports.
Boniface is expected to be in action on Friday when Super Eagles face Saudi Arabia in an international friendly slated to hold in Portugal.
