Ibadan Football Council Kicks-off Women’s League

Ibadan Football Council has joined the ship of the world’s fastest-growing women’s football, as the council staged the first game of its maiden female league, the Sherifat Kola-Daisi/IFC Women’s League: SKODA/IFC WOMEN’S LEAGUE.l

The season-opening featured a grueling contest between Oluyole Flaming Queens FC and Adewale Babes FC, with the former securing a merited 3-1 victory.

Oluwadara Animasaun scored the solitary goal for Adewale Babes FC in between a brace by Tobiloba Oladeji for Oluyole Flaming Queens FC all within the first half fireworks and premium quality on display.

The 83rd Ibadan Football Council League concluded with Marvelous FC completing their title win with a one-all tie versus Young Stars FC.

Before the match, Marvelous FC had won 12 of its previous 19 matches, totaling 41 points.

One of the twin events’ side attractions was an outstanding performance by the Xplicit Dancers, who put on mind-blowing shows that earned enormous plaudits from the maximum audience.

For the prizes, Marvelous FC went home with the sum of #250,000, New Starlets FC in second place carted home #150,000 while VIA Academy FC pocketed #100,000 for placing third in the league.

Seven other teams went home with #20,000 consolatory cash prizes bringing the number of winners to 10.

Former Atletico Madrid FC star, Muyiwa Lawal Kokoro was named Best Veteran Player of the Year, while Alade Sodiq of Marvelous FC clinched the Award of Best Goalkeeper, his teammate Nafiu Raheem, was named Most Valuable Player of the Season.

The Highest Goal Scorer honors were shared by Akinlabi Oladimeji and Bimbo Adaramaja.

Dignitaries present who graced the occasion include former NFF Vice-President, Barr. Seyi Akinwumi, internationals – Dr. Felix Owolabi MON, Mutiu Adepoju MON, Former Chairman of Ekiti State FA, Mr. Bayo Olanlege, Ondo State FA board member and CAF recognized physician, Dr. Babatunde Akinbinu, Mrs. Folashade Falokun, a respected figure in the Nigeria Women’s Football sector, among others.
