Ighalo Commends Minister of Sports Over MKO Abiola Stadium Renovation

Former Super Eagles and Manchester United striker, Odion Ighalo was excited with the state of the renovation going on at the MKO Abiola Stadium Abuja.

Ighalo commended the Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare for regrassing the pitch and putting in place the VAR scoreboards. He stated that it was an eyesore the last time he saw the pitch on Televison.

Speaking at the MKO Abiola Stadium during his visit, Ighalo said, “I want to commend honorable minister for this great job he is doing, I will tell you the last time I played here was 17 years ago and I remember that pitch was great and after then seeing the pitch on the TV is embarrassing but what I’m seeing now, I’m really happy because it’s coming back.

“This is the main bowl, this is where Nigeria is supposed to be playing our National Team games, so, we’re happy it’s coming back to life so we can’t wait to see how it’s going to look like after the finishing. He added.

He reiterated that he was happy donning the colour of Manchester United and has never regretted not scoring a Premier League goal for his dream team.

“And when you talked about my staying in Man Utd, it’s a dream come true for me to play in that team. There is bad time, there is good time but I always look forward to the positive side so I’m always happy my path crossed with Man Utd and I’m always grateful for that.
No I don’t feel bad but I scored for Man Utd. Even though I played for Man Utd for one day and I did not score, I will still be happy because it’s a team I supported when I was young and a dream come true for me to have played for them.”

He said his decision not coming back to play for the Super Eagles is to allow the younger ones use the platform for the country..

“Well, Nigeria is my country, when that time comes we’ll see. For now we have a very good team and I just want to give the young guys the support to keep making Nigerian proud.” He concluded.
