Chelsea vs Everton

Chelsea are back in Premier League action on Monday evening, when they will play host to Everton.

The tie at Stamford Bridge marks a key one, with the Champions League race set to be impacted by the result.

At present, it is Chelsea who are 4th in the Premier League table, after 27 games.

However, Everton are just one point behind, whilst also boasting a game in hand.

As a result, the Londoners really need to pick up all three points on Monday.

Tuchel hints at Kante rest

Ahead of the clash, meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel has been discussing N’Golo Kante.

The Frenchman has started and seen out all of Chelsea’s last three league outings, after slowly making his way back from injury.

The midfielder was particularly impressive in midweek vs Liverpool, with fans of the Blues no doubt eager to see Kante maintain his starting berth over the weeks ahead.

However, speaking this weekend, Tuchel confirmed that Kante will not play 90 minutes in every game before the international break:

“He comes from injury. He will not play now all games 90 minutes before we arrive at the international break. We have to manage him.”

The Chelsea boss did, though, go on to suggest that if Kante is fully fit following the break, the Pensioners may then be able to rely on him every game:

“We do this now with our physical coaches and we have to take care that he arrives fit until the national break and when he comes back, this is normally the momentum where I hope we can rely on him in every game. I am very happy to have him and Kova and Jorginho in defensive midfield. This is exactly the level we need to win games at the highest level and I am super happy with all of them.”

When taking into account the fact that Kante has, as already mentioned, played all 90 minutes in Chelsea’s last three Premier League fixtures, this may suggest that Tuchel is ready to bench the former Leicester man against Everton.
