Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero on the bench for Manchester City as Pep Guardiola make five changes

Manchester City will continue their assault on all available trophies tonight when they take on Borussia Monchengladbach in the round of 16 of the Champions League.

They will be looking for their 19th victory in a row in all competitions against a side making their first appearance in the knock out stages tonight in the Puskas Arena in Budapest.

It seems only a matter of time before Pep Guardiola wins the competition with City and they are currently the most inform team in Europe, a run achieved, for the most part, without superstars Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero, both of whom recently returned to the first team after recovering from injuries.

Tonight, once again the City legends will start on the bench tonight, but the team remains strong as ever.

There are five changes from the side who beat Arsenal 1-0 at the weekend, with John Stones, Olek Zinchenko, Fernandinho, De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez making way for Kyle Walker, Aymeric Laporte, Rodrigo, Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus.

Pep plays down importance

Speaking in his pre match conference, Guardiola played down the importance of this game against any other.

“We’re going to play this like we’ve played the last games this season, in all competitions- nothing special.”

“We’re going to try to win, to get a good result and then afterwards we are going to think about West Ham on Saturday.”

“This is the only target. It’s the same process as I’ve said to the players for a long time- think of the next one and then, after that, the next one.”
