Man City boss Guardiola discusses possibility of recalling Aguero & Foden vs Southampton

Man City vs Southampton

Manchester City are back in Premier League action on Wednesday evening, when they are set to play host to Southampton.

The Citizens will head into the meeting at the Etihad aiming to bounce back from a rare recent defeat.

City saw a 21-game unbeaten run come to an end on Sunday, when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United secured a 2-0 derby victory.

Despite losing to 2nd placed United, though, the Sky Blues are still firmly in the drivers’ seat when it comes to the Premier League title race.

With just 10 games left to play, City boast an 11-point advantage.

They are also very likely to earn another three points on Wednesday, versus a Southampton side who have won only one of their last 10 league outings. And even that victory came against basement dwellers Sheffield United.

Guardiola on Sergio Aguero & Phil Foden

Ahead of Wednesday’s meeting, meanwhile, Pep Guardiola held his latest pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

During the presser, the Spaniard discussed a number of topics, including recalling Phil Foden and Sergio Aguero to City’s starting line-up against the Saints.

Both started on the bench in the United defeat, with Foden having been introduced as a substitute.

When quizzed on the pair potentially returning to starting duties earlier today, though, Guardiola gave little away:

“Maybe. I will decide tomorrow.

“I have an idea in general of the guys who will play but I have a few doubts. Tomorrow I will decide.”

The Spaniard also confirmed that Man City have no injury issues ahead of the clash with Ralph Hasenhuttl and co.:
