Who is Demir?

Yusuf Demir is a product of Austrian outfit Rapid Vienna’s youth system.

The 17-year-old, despite his tender years, was handed his senior debut for the club during the 2019/20 campaign.

And Demir’s talents have since seen him go on to establish himself as a regular contributor for Rapid over the last couple of months.

To this point in the campaign, Demir has racked up 23 appearances across all competitions – including four in the Europa League, one of which came against Premier League outfit Arsenal.

Demir is an attacking midfielder by trade, but he is more than capable of playing on either flank, or occasionally as a centre-forward.

Such fine form has now seemingly attracted interest from some top, top sides.

According to a recent report from ESPN Barcelona are battling with a number of Europe’s biggest clubs for Demir.

As well as Barcelona, all of Manchester United, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are said to be tracking Demir.

The report adds that scouts have earmarked Demir, whose current contract only runs until 2022, as one of the brightest young players in Europe and expect a bidding war to break out in the upcoming summer window.

In terms of a potential fee for Demir, ESPN claim the price of the deal could range from anywhere between €5 million and €15m.
