Napoli Wants N55B For Osimhen

Napoli has raised their asking price for Victor Osimhen after rejecting a €100m bid from Newcastle in January, according to reports.

Numerous Premier League sides are interested in signing the Nigeria striker. Manchester United, Newcastle, Arsenal and Tottenham have all been linked with the 23-year-old.

He joined Napoli from Lille for around £67m in 2020 and has scored 25 goals in 55 appearances for the Serie A outfit.
Osimhen has been in terrific form this season, scoring 15 in 25 across all competitions, with Napoli one point behind league leaders AC Milan with seven games remaining.

It was reported in January that Newcastle made a €100m bid for the Nigerian and Tuesday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) has hinted that this is the case.

The Italian newspaper said: ‘The hundred million that ADL ignored practically the other day will probably grow, and if everything that seems to be already read in the folds turns into hard cash, the tinkling of pounds will act as a soundtrack to the soul.’

Given that the same source claimed that Newcastle is the only side to make a bid for Osimhen, the €100m offer in question would apply to them.

This is how it is being portrayed in Italy, anyway. Spazio Napoli reckon the asking price is now closer to €120m (N55 billion) after the Magpies’ offer was turned down.

Arsenal and Manchester United’s interest is reiterated in both reports.

Meanwhile, Newcastle is reportedly interested in former Liverpool forward Taiwo Awoniyi, who is valued at €30m by Union Berlin.

The striker signed for Liverpool in 2015 but he did not end up making his senior debut for the Premier League side. After seven loan spells elsewhere, Awoniyi joined Union Berlin permanently from Liverpool last summer for around £6m.

The 24-year-old has performed well this term as he has grabbed 17 goals and four assists from his 36 outings. He made his debut for Nigeria last year.

German outlet Bild is reporting that ‘Newcastle would be ready to pay €30m’ for Awoniyi. They add that the player is ‘very likely’ to be sold this summer.
