NWFL24: Robo Queens Pip Sunshine Queens In Five-goal Thriller, As Abia Angels, Confluence Queens Record Away Wins


It was goals galore in Matchday two of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, across 8 different centers.

In Lagos, FC Robo Queens came from a goal down to defeat Sunshine Queens in a five-goal thriller. The visitors took the lead in the 28th minute via Bolaji Olamide before Folashade Ijamilusi equalized for the host in the 57th minute.

The exciting encounter which was witnessed by the Chairman of the NWFL, Nkechi Obi also saw goals by Favour Nkwocha and Esther Onyenezide for Robo Queens while Bunmi Adenuga pulled one back for the Akure-based side.

In Sapele, Charity IIsaiah solitary ‘solitary effort in the 45th minute was enough to give visiting Abia Angels an away win against Royal Queens as the Aba-based ladies continued their fine start with consecutive wins.

The Prosperity Ladies, Bayelsa Queens condemned newcomers, Ekiti Queens to their first NWFL Premiership defeat by two-nil with goals by Shakirat Moshood and Blessing Illievida.

Elsewhere, Dannaz Ladies defeated Naija Ratels two-nil to record their first-ever top-flight win while Rivers Angels got the better of Edo Queens 3-1.

It was a back-to-back win for the Solid Miners as Nasarawa Amazons beat Heartland Queens by a goal to nil while Confluence Queens defeated Adamawa Queens in their backyard by a lone goal.

The title holders, Delta Queens were forced to back-to-back opening draws by newcomers Ekiti Queens and Remo Star Ladies respectively.
