Super Falcons To Face Uganda In Olympics Qualifier


Super Falcons of Nigeria may face the senior women’s national team of Uganda if both teams qualified for the Third Round of the 2024 African Women’s Olympics qualifier.

Super Falcons had on Wednesday played a 1-1 draw with Ethiopia with the return leg next week Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

Atletico Madrid Feminine and Super Falcons forward, Rasheedat Ajibade in the second half cancelled out Birkie Amare’s early lead for the host, Ethiopia to end the game in a 1-1 draw.

The eventual winners between Super Falcons and Ethiopia will face winners between Uganda and Cameroon in the Third Round of the qualifier.

Meanwhile, Uganda women’s senior national team, the Crested Cranes, on Thursday secured a 2-nil victory against Cameroon in the first leg of the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers.

Goals from Catherine Nagadiya and Fazila Ikwaput helped Uganda ease passed the Indomitable Lions at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru.

The Crested Cranes face winners between Nigeria and Ethiopia if they sail through with their 2-0 advantage after playing the second leg in Cameroon. The second leg match is slated for 31st October, 2023 in Cameroon.
