The latest on Giovani Lo Celso ahead of Tottenham vs Dinamo Zagreb

Tottenham vs Dinamo Zagreb

After seeing off Wolfsberg in the Round of 32, Tottenham have once again been handed a fairly favourable tie in the last-16 as well.

Spurs have been drawn against Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb, with the first leg set to play out this Thursday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Lilywhites will head into the meeting on a solid run of form.

Jose Mourinho’s side, after putting four past Crystal Palace at the weekend, have now won four in a row across all competitions and are firmly back in the race for a top-six finish in the Premier League.

The latest of Giovani Lo Celso/ Mourinho praises Bale

Ahead of Thursday’s meeting, Jose Mourinho held his latest press conference on Wednesday.

During the presser, the Portuguese discussed a number of topics, including Giovani Lo Celso.

And Mourinho would confirm that the midfielder, who has been absent for some time now, will miss the Dinamo Zagreb clash:

“Gio is not ready but it’s nothing to do with his previous important injury, from which he’s totally recovered. But with his accumulation of work he’s got a bit of back pain so he’s had to stop what he’s doing. So not for this match. Apart from that, Joe Rodon, who is not registered, everyone is available. Am I going to repeat the team that played against Crystal Palace? No.”

The Tottenham boss also discussed Gareth Bale, and the importance of managing the winger whilst trying to keep his momentum going:

“I want to keep the momentum going but I need to manage him. The communication is very good and I think he trusts me. In this moment we are deciding together what to do. The other day during the match I found Andre Marriner the fourth official was finding it because we were talking so much. I was asking “10 minutes more? 20 minutes?”. He’s playing very well. The relationship with him is very good I think and of course I would like him to play 90 minutes in every game but he can’t.”
