Auba dropped
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was dropped ahead of Arsenal’s North London derby win against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon. The Gabonese forward had been expected to start the match having scored in a number of games leading up to the pivotal clash including a hat-trick against Leeds and a brace against Olympiacos.
In his pre-match interview, Mikel Arteta revealed that Aubameyang had been left out due to disciplinary reasons.

It was later revealed by The Athletic’s David Ornstein that Aubameyang had turned up late for the match and this had not been the first instance of this happening and the Spanish coach had decided it was the final straw.

Thankfully for Arsenal, Alexandre Lacazette stepped up with a penalty in the second half to score the winning goal in the derby and give The Gunners all three points.
Why Auba was late
Speculation grew throughout the game as to the reason why Aubameyang had turned up late to the game and it was suggested by some, thanks to photographic evidence, that the striker had been caught in traffic whilst trying to reach the ground.

Because of the restrictions of Covid-19, Arsenal’s players are required to reach the ground by their own means and Aubameyang’s choice of travel is clearly one of his own forms of extravagant transport.
Regarding how Aubameyang felt about being dropped by Arteta, he could be heard driving angrily away from the Emirates whilst other substitutes in the ground warmed down.
“You could hear the angry revs from pitchside.
As Arteta conducted his post-match interviews, and the rest of the subs undertook a warm-down on the pitch, Aubameyang’s car sped away into the night.
Last one in, first one out.”@TheAthleticUK #AFC #NLDhttps://t.co/q5h2PgaSZD

Arsenal play Olympiacos on Thursday in the second leg of their Europa League last 16 tie. Whether Aubameyang will be present is as of yet unknown.
