Tuchel Rage

Footage has emerged of Thomas Tuchel questioning Timo Werner’s positional sense during last night’s comfortable 2-0 win over Everton at Stamford Bridge.

The win cemented Chelsea’s place in the top four, four points clear of Carlo Ancelotti’s team, for now with an own goal from Ben Godfrey in the first half and a Jorginho penalty in the second.

Werner had a couple of decent opportunities to score but was thwarted by Jordan Pickford, but it was his positional sense which drew Tuchel’s criticism.

It seems Tuchel isn’t shy at getting his message across to his players as a continuation of the thread shows.

One of Tuchel’s main objectives upon arrival was to get the best out of Chelsea’s two German signings. Whilst Werner took the brunt of his manager’s anger last night, his counterpart made a different impact on his manager.

Havertz arrives

The man of the match for Chelsea last night was Kai Havertz, who finally gave a performance worthy of his £71 million price tag.

The 21-year-old German International has struggled to adapt in his first season at Chelsea, but a lengthy bout of Covid-19 can certainly be seen as a reason for his disappointing time so far.

Last night however he was instrumental in both goals, with the first a deflection from his shot and winning a penalty for the second.

He also had a goal disallowed by VAR for handball, but in general he excelled in the “false 9” position.

His performance drew praise from his manager post match.

Chelsea will be hoping Havertz continues to play like he did last night as they get to the business end of the season.
