Tottenham vs Wolfsberger

Tottenham are back in Europa League action on Wednesday.

Considering their dismal league form of late, winning the Europa League now likely represents the Lilywhites’ best chance of securing a Champions League spot for next season.

And, as things stand, Spurs are well on course to book their spot in the last-16.

The north Londoners beat Austrian outfit Wolfsberger 4-1 in the first-leg meeting between the sides.

Despite this result, however, speaking ahead of the reverse fixture, Jose Mourinho suggested that he is set to field a similar line-up to the one which dominated last time out:

“Our starting line-up will be very similar to the one that started the game in Hungary. We want to go strong.”

Giovani Lo Celso update

The Portuguese also provided an update on Giovani Lo Celso on Tuesday.

The Argentine has been out of action for some time now, having missed Spurs’ last 10 Premier League outings.

Speaking ahead of Wolfsberger, though, Mourinho confirmed that the midfielder is back training with his side.

In terms of when we could see Lo Celso back on the pitch, meanwhile, the Tottenham boss revealed that it will likely be ‘a couple of weeks’:

“Gio is not coming back [to the pitch], but coming back to training with the team, which is a big step and a very important one

“Even today he was training for the first time, of course, with lots of protection in relation to what he could or could not do.

“But that beautiful relationship between Gio and the ball is magnificent, so it’s good news. It’s maybe a couple of weeks to play, but let’s say if everything goes well, we are on the countdown.”
