Tottenham make 7 changes, with Gareth Bale back on the bench for Dinamo Zagreb test

Mourinho mixes it up

Jose Mourinho said in his pre-match press conference before Spurs’ Europa League Round of 16 meeting with Dinamo Zagreb that he would make changes, and he has been true to his word.

The Portuguese has made seven changes from the side which beat Crystal Palace 4-1 on Sunday, but has nevertheless fielded a strong XI, with Harry Kane and Heung min Son both starting.

Speaking ahead of the game, Mourinho explained:

“Am I going to repeat the same team that played against Crystal Palace? No, I’m going to make a few changes.”

“But the team is working very well, everybody is training hard, everybody is pushing to play, so for me it doesn’t matter who is playing our team is going to be strong.”

Gareth Bale, who has been in sparkling form, takes his place back on the bench, after starting the last three Premier League games.

Dele Alli once again starts in Europe, and is joined by Matt Doherty, Eric Dier, Serge Aurier, Moussa Sissoko, Tanguy Ndombele and Erik Lamela.

Toby Alderweireld, Ben Davies, Sergio Reguilon, Harry Winks, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Lucas Moura all join Bale on the bench.

Spurs will be aiming to keep up their good form ahead of the North London Derby this weekend.

Another Chance

Dele Alli

Tonight’s game represents another chance for Dele Alli to cement a place in the Spurs starting eleven.

He has played six times in the Europa League this season, scoring twice and assisting three times.

Spurs will be certain that they can go deep into the competition, and, if they manage to win it, will of course guarantee themselves a place in the Champions League for next season.
