U20 World Cup: Injury Rocks Senegal Camp


As the much-awaited U20 FIFA World Cup kick-off in Argentina on Saturday, the news coming from the camp of the African champions, the Junior Teranga Lions of Senegal is not palatable as injury has hit them hard.

The Senegalese qualified for the World Cup in style and emerged as the winner of the U20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt without conceding a goal.

Their first-choice goalkeeper Landing Badji has been ruled out of the competition after sustaining a thigh injury.

He was adjudged as the best goalkeeper of AFCON U20 2023, 7 caps with the U20s and 2 selections for the CHAN team.

The current player of Aris Limassol (Cyprus) is a big loss for the Senegalese U20 group.

Badji did not concede a single goal in 6 games during the AFCON of the category.

Senegal will face Isreal in their opening group game.
